CSI-W Oslo 9.-11.10.

The Oslo Horse Show moves to a brand new venue - Telenor Arena - this year. Stal Forstén-Pentti is represented on the Western European FEI World Cup league's first leg by Mikael Forstén whom brings three of his top mounts to Norway on his way to home show in Helsinki, Finland which starts a week later. Mikael's horses in Oslo are his European Championships and World Cup Final mount Isaac du Jonquet, mare EVLI Nandele and his new companion Vasco. Oslo Horse Show has its strongest start field ever and we will do our best to make some good results!

Sunday Mikael pleased with his horses.

Friday

The horses arrived safely to Oslo on Wednesday evening even though we had to make last minute travel adjustments because of strong winds and heavy storm. The horses took a bit longer route to avoid rough sea and arrived in good condition to the show stables in Norway. Mikael plans to start on Friday Vasco in the 145cm two phases class at 2.10 PM, Isaac du Jonquet in the 150cm class at 4.45 PM and EVLI Nandele in the evening speed class at 7.30 PM. "I rode the horses early on Friday morning and they all felt quite good even they had a long travel to get here. EVLI Nandele felt fresh and Vasco was very relaxed and supple to ride. Isaac was a bit spooky in the arena but I didn't want to work him too hard today" Mikael told.

Mikael placed 11th in the opening class with Vasco, riding a double clear round in two-phase class.

Isaac appared to be fit for fight, as Mikael jumped the gelding to a good clean 1m50 round in the jump-off class in the afternoon. An unlucky fault for exceeding time allowed, left horse and rider outside a jump-off. In third class (against the clock), Mikael jumped a very slow training round with Evli Nandele.

Saturday

Mikael and Evli Nandele took a great 3rd place in a very fast 1m45 ranking point class. There were a whole 20 horses and riders in the jump-off, requiring really fast riding to place well. Mikael was really pleased with mare and continues next with Vasco in the GP. Isaac has day off before Sunday’s World Cup.

Saturday’s Grand Prix was quite big and technical, and the first clean round took some waiting to happen. Mikael and Vasco placed a really decent effort and finished the demanding course with two mistakes. A rail down on 4c was apparently due some hesitance, as the wider oxer ending the combination was heading right towards the arena-side, and resulting in an error on the hind-rail. Another rail down came on the technical 10-11a-b line, where a lot of mistakes were done.

Sunday

Mikael jumped Sunday morning with EVLI Nandele in the 1m45 final. The 20 best horses and riders from Friday’s and Saturday’s 1m49-45 classes had qualified for this final. The class was technically tough and a very narrow time allowed, was making things exponentially harder.
Mikael and Nandele did a good round, but a mistake on the hind-rail of the course’s second last fence left horse and rider outside the jump-off and also leaving them as the first non-placed pair.

In the World Cup Mikael and Isaac had a rail down, but the rider was still quite pleased, especially with his horse.

-Isaac jumped very well today! This is “just” sport, every course cannot be that clear round. Yet, I hope we’ll have enough of those clear round this World Cup season to qualify to the Geneva final. Also my other two horses felt very good here and performed well, placing in ranking point scoring classes. It’s with a good feeling we head now to Helsinki, Mikael told directly after the World Cup-course.

From Oslo the whole Stal Forstén-Pentti team heads to Helsinki Finland, where also Noora and Maiju join the ranks of competing riders.
