Ian Fleming placed Estoril as the venue for first parts of the legendary Bond –film Casino Royale. The small village in Portugal is also well-known for its F1-race and the magnificent 5-star jumping show – the one now part of the Global Champions Tour.
The show in Estoril has started with excellent sunny weather, with a nice cooler breeze coming in from the Atlantic. For Mikael Estoril means the first show since his shoulder injury and consequent surgery. The first actual class went off Friday morning, with 1m45 against the clock. The best result was done by Noora and Quinault, but an ever so small contact on fence 3m, the wall, resulted in 4 faults. It was a knock-down Noora didn’t even notice before seeing the result. Noora was still pleased and hopes the stallion will do as well on Saturday. Maiju and Casandra did a more unhurried and slower round, having one rail down on oxer nr 7 and also a fault for exceeding the time allowed. Maike didn’t appear at her best, prompting Mikael to ride a very precise and unhurried schooling round, and preparing the horse for Saturday.
