Maiju showed 4 horses at Herselt in Belgium, being our only rider to compete this weekend. Maiju’s horses were St. Germain, Carnell, Cocktail and Kennzo. The highlight of the weekend was a fabulous 4th place in the Herselt Grand Prix, which was a first ever GP for St. Germain. Maiju and St. Germain performed double clear rounds, despite four faults in the jump-off, which was all due exceeding time allowed. It was a deliberated decision, as the mare is absolutely green at this level. Other results to mention, includes a 5th place for young Cocktail in the final for 6-year olds, and a clear round for Kennzo in the same class. St. Germain had also another placing, being 7th at 1m35 earlier in the weekend. With great sadness we had to leave a farewell to the still young Ultimate. Ultimate showed signs of colic on Wednesday and was directly rushed to the clinic in Belgium for emergency surgery. Despite a successful procedure, the digestive system never recovered and the horse had to be put down. The fundamental reason behind the colic remains a mystery, but the vets suggested it could have been due to tumor or similar abnormality causing a blockage. The joyful and playful gelding was a member of our horse family since the age of 2, and the Guttecoven team will be missing this talented horse.
