's-Hertogenbosch CSIW / Arezzo CSI

The Indoor Brabant is the final World Cup qualifier for the jumping tour. Mikael participates in the show with Evli Nandele and Isaac Du Jonquet. Noora jumps at the same time in Italy on the three week long Toscana Tour, with Evli Cagliostro, Quinault, Campari, Vasco and Navarro. The plan is for Mikael to join next week.

The weird lesson of Arezzo has been that if you want to avoid cold and snow, don’t travel south… Noora told the weather in Arezzo was really lousy on the first days, with snow, rain, freezing winds and parts of fences flying around the course – the exact weather you could find in Finland late in the fall.

Noora jumped on the first day a 0/0 result with Campari, taking a placing in small class. With Quinault Noora decided to withdraw after the stallion got so carried away that both brakes and steering seemed rather erratic. Noora told she’ll take a half step back with Quino and try to jump him on a smaller sand course before going back to the huge main arena. Evli Cagliostro did everything right and the grand old man jumped with ease a relaxed 0/0 result on 1m40 level.

Noora didn’t jump Vasco or Navarro on the first days, as wet, slippery courses and constant snowfall didn’t really constitute as the good opening for the outdoor season.

On Sunday Noora could cheer that there were no snow falling anymore..! Noora’s horses jumped well and clear rounds were facts for all except Vasco, which had an unlucky rail down in the jump-off. That was still three placings for Sunday, leaving a good feeling for the incoming next weekend.

Mikael’s weekend in ’s-Hertogenbosch had a happy ending although not fully uneventfully. On Saturday Mikael and Evli Nandele did again a really fab clear round in a demanding Grand Prix, but the jump-off ended with a bit of drama. To the second last fence (a vertical next to the perimeter fence of the arena) Mikael made a really short turn. Nandele jumped alright, but leaving the other front leg dangling caused horse and rider to eventually tumble over. A day after the show, all seems good; the mare appears normal and is not sore anywhere. Mikael himself hurt slightly his back and might have strained there some muscle.
On Friday Mikael and Evli Nandele jumped already a real super result, by placing third in the 1m50 against the clock wc-qualifying class.

In Sunday’s World Cup Mikael and Isaac had an unfortunate two rails down, but next to that the course went well, especially the latter parts of it. Mikael told Isaac felt a little nervous in the beginning of the course. In the final World Cup points the results was much as many predicted; Mikael passed it with flying colors to Las Vegas.
