Neeroeteren CSI2* 2009

Noora, Mikael and Maiju is competing again at the nearby De Warre riding complex in Belgium, located in Neeroeteren north-east of Limburg, which is only a short drive from Guttecoven. Our riders are showing something of a record breaking 13 horses during the weekend, so the schedule is guaranteed to be busy.

Sunday: Noora and Vasco placed in the GP

Report

Thursday started with the young horses; 6-year old Cocktail (Mikael), 7-year olds Conquest (Mikael) and Kennzo de Conte (Maiju). Excellent results came right away, with Mikael and Cocktail being 4th in their class and Maiju took a class win in the 7-year olds with Kennzo. Calero and Maiju had one rail down in second phase, plus 2 faults for exceeding time allowed. Mikael and Conquest had also one rail down.

On Friday on 1m30 level jumped St.Germain (Noora), Calbay (Mikael) and Ultimate (Maiju). On 1m35 level we had Noora with Quinault, Mikael with Vanity and Maiju with Casandra Z. In the 1m45 GP qualifier we had Noora with Vasco, Mikael with Evli Nandele and Maiju with Tosca’s Lena.

Friday’s results and placings were Maiju and Ultimate taking a nice 6th place in 1m30, a class a lot Finnish success. In the 1m35 Maiju apparently took another placing, jumping an unhurried, but good and two clear phases with Casandra. Mikael’s Calbay seemed a bit fresh in the 1m30 and took two stupid rails down, being simply very unfocused on the task. In the 1m35 class Mikael jumped his Vanity to a 0/8 result, where the mare seemed a bit out of touch in the second phase when Mikael rode short turns. St. Germain was not at her best, being very hard to ride and Noora decided to retire in their round. In the 1m35 Noora Quinault jumped well, with one unfortunate rail down in second phase.

In Friday main class, the 1m45 GP-qualifier Noora and Vasco took a very nice 10th place. Noora told the gelding jumped really well and felt relaxed and disciplined to ride. Mikael’s Evli Nandele jumped also well, with one rail down on last fence. Maiju’s Tosca’s Lena one was one of the three that didn’t do that well and was not on par with its normal performance level.

On Saturday Maiju placed 3rd with Ultimate in the 1m30 jump-off class, doing double clear rounds. In the young horse finals Calero jumped excellently, with one rail down. Cocktail did also a good round with two rails down. In the 7-year old Kennzo had one rail down, Conquest one rail down and an extra volt.

Noora and Vasco finished the Neeroeteren show in a decent manner, taking a GP-placing as 16th. Noora told her horse jumped excellently and it was all her to blame for a rail they took right at the first fence, Noora then switched mode and rode determined against the clock. The fast time and a faultless remaining round ensured still horse and rider a placing as 16th. Mikael and Evli Nandele was marked with 8 faults and Maiju with Casandra with 5 faults, which in fact was a good result, keeping in mind this was Maiju’s first international GP.
In the morning classes Noora and Quinault had one rail down on 1m40 level, but Noora told she was still quite at ease with her stallion. In the 1m30 class Mikael and Calbay had a clean round, but were left as the first non-placed horse and rider. Maiju wasn’t so successful in riding Ultimate and their result was written as 8 faults.
