The Finnish World Cup QualifierThe Helsinki International Horse Show is the biggest annual indoor sport event in Finland. During the four day competition in the luxurious Hartwall Areena over 40 000 spectators will enjoy an exciting competition and a fantastic show. The 24th Helsinki International Horse Show features once again a stiff lineup of world's leading riders. Sunday: Mikael best Finn in the World Cup. It's time for the World Cup season opening event in Helsinki. Noora's horses are Evli Cagliostro, Navarro and the Winnie PV, Mikko jumps Skybreaker, Isaac du Jonquet and Quinault.
Noora told on Thursday that all horses their are in good shape ahead of Friday, when the international program starts. There is a warm-up class in the morning, an international opening in the afternoon and the Grand Prix qualifier is due in the Friday eve. FridayBoth Noora and Mikael did excellent results on Friday, taking together only one single rail all day. Noora placed with Evli Cagliostro in Friday’s main class after a clear and fluent round in this Grand Prix qualifier. Mikael jumped Skybreaker, doing also a clear round, but missed unfortunately a planned short turn in front of several fences and was forced to do a 50m longer route than planned. Mikael was second best Finn in the class and will probably also score FEI ranking points for the result. Earlier in the both riders did clear rounds in the international 1m40 opening class, Mikael with Quinault and Noora with Winnie. Mikael jumped also Isaac in this class. The course looked very good and relaxed, despite one rail down. Noora jumped Navarro in the “Baltic classes”. The small gelding did well, but a small mistake on a double combination got the rider slightly off balance on the first part and Navarro refused for the second part. A new go and horse and rider completed the course without so much of touching a rail. SaturdayMikael told about their Grand Prix rounds and said that it went actually better for both him and Noora than results indicate. Quinault is not according to Mikael the easiest horse to ride and the style that suits the horse best causes sometimes “unnecessary” mistakes. - It was a decent round and Quinault jumped well. Of course I’m not satisfied with the results, but no big disappointments either. Noora and Winnie on the other hand gave big hopes for the futures, recalling the short time they’ve jumped together, Mikael summarized the GP. Noora jumped on Saturday also a two phase A/C course with Navarro, whereas Mikael told his horses wouldn't do anything more on Saturday. The World Cup Mikael plans to jump with Isaac. SundayNoora and Mikael were consequtive starts in the Helsinki World Cup. Noora and Evli Cagliostro had one rail at a narrow gate and soon after - appareantly chasing a fast 4-faulter - had another one down. Mikael and Isaac du Jonquet had an unfortunate minor mistake on the triple combination's second jump, loosing any chance for a jump-off and this time also any World Cup points. Mikael was rather unhappy with the outcome, telling the course was rather small and he had wished for a very different results.
