Hamburg CSI5*

Hamburg’s Derby Park hosts the 79th German Jumping and Dressage Derby. Hamburg sports two additional series this year: the Riders Tour series and the Grand Prix of Hamburg will be for the first time part of the Global Champions Tour. These two modern sport series will be held alongside the traditional and fascinating Jumping Derby. Noora is attending in Hamburg the 5-star Global Champions Tour –series.

Saturday: Noora placed 7th with Quidana.

Noora will be jumping the Global Champions Tour classes with Evli Cagliostro and Evli Maike and for the Youngster Tour Noora has Quidana.

The horses left for Hamburg on Tuesday and the first class is due on Wednesday-eve.

Report

Noora had a good start to the Hamburg weekend, but since the placing on Wednesday things has gone in the direction of the rider’s health, rather dreadfully! Noora caught in Gothenburg along with some fellow riders a nasty flue, making her cough, having the nose running and eyes blurry and irritated.

On Wednesday all went well and Noora did good rounds in the welcome class with both Evli Cagliostro and Evli Maike. Noora’s round with Evli Cagliostro was also rewarded with a placing. Thursday things went not that well, as Noora’s and Maike’s round went as Noora felt, dreadfully. Without much to do, Noora and Maike took several rails down until Noora decided to retire before the triple combination 10abc. Did Maike feel compassion for Noora or..? Later in the eve Noora jumped with the small and spicy Quidana aka “Qidi”. Qidi was good in the warm-up and on the early course, but managed then lose the footing in the turn from fence 3 to 4. Noora tried to stabilize the situation by placing an extra volt before the next fence, but Qidi said enough, and had no intention of going any further. Noora told these are not exactly the things you plan for, but the young horses never quite stop to amaze you…

To make not two without a third, Cagli had a warm and slightly swollen leg on Friday before the 1m50 class. With a wet and slippery footing Noora was unwilling of any risk-taking, especially as there was nothing on stake in this class. Noora told Cagli is way to important for her to risk anything concerning the already 16-year old stallion’s future, as she hope to keep him healthy and happy as long as possible. Noora continued that she didn’t think any major injuries were involved with Cagli.

Saturday / Sunday

On Saturday Noora jumped with Evli Maike in the Grand Prix and with Quidana in the second Youngster Tour qualifier.

In the Grand Prix Noora had a slightly better round with Maike than in their previous class, but we have to wait for Noora's comments for a closer analyse.

With Quidana Noora had an excellent round and placed 7th with one of the few clean rounds in the class. The result alone gave her a place in the final, despite having no points from the first class. Their Sunday's final class went also well, but 2 unfortunate rails down left horse and riders a way down on the result list.
